Civil War Home Front Days
10am-5pm

The Marietta Museum of History, the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum and the Root House Museum (operated by Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society) will have special presentations, demonstrations and tours throughout the weekend as part of their observance of the Civil War Sesquicentennial and the Great Locomotive Chase. The museums will give visitors a sense of what local residents, refugees and soldiers were thinking about and doing in Marietta during the first years of
the Civil War.

  • 10am-5pm – Old Zion Baptist Church Heritage Museum
    Located at the corner of Lemon and Haynes Streets, Old Zion Baptist Church Heritage Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the history, art and culture of the black community in Cobb County.

  • 11am-5pm – "Homes & Heroes of the Civil War Exhibit"
    Photographed homes that were built before the Civil War and soldiers photographed during the Civil War dominate this beautiful exhibition, which runs April 7 - September 9.
